BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCW) is seeking a Senior Director, Clinical Operations focused on delivering regional and provincial tertiary level service at our Vancouver campus with our world-class research and medical staff.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, our Senior Director will be responsible for overall program operation and administration, including all aspects of direct service, education, training and research activities. What you’ll do
Maintain accountability for the overall development of annual operating plans and priorities for BCW Ambulatory Services.
In a dyad partnership with the Medical Director you will provide strategic leadership in the implementation of an integrated health services delivery model.
Maintain accountability for the annual operating budgets of BCW, including fiscal priorities and allocation of resources.
Coordinate the development and implementation of proposals for new or expanded programs.
Participate in the planning and delivery of health services with physicians and other health care team members.
Establish monitoring and reporting systems to identify and address performance gaps in patient care services aimed at improving the quality, safety, accessibility and efficiency of our services for our patients, as well as their experiences.
Lead, inspire, coach and mentor a team of program managers and front-line leaders to create conditions that support a system wide desired culture.
Support strategies to address psychological health and safety for staff and team wellness.
Contribute to the execution of a progressive workforce/talent strategy that ensures high quality staff are recruited and selected, succession is continuously addressed, and resources are deployed to meet all operational requirements.
Engage internal and external stakeholders to build relationships and foster a knowledge-sharing environment to optimize patient care services across the continuum of care.
Support and participate in research and academic agendas in support of the organizational mandate to strengthen system capacity for our populations of focus.
What you bring
Level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in a discipline such as Nursing, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration.
Ten (10) years of recent, related experience in a senior administrative position within a health care organization.
Clinical nursing background is an asset.
Ability to collaborate and develop cooperative relationships with strategic partners and key stakeholders across the province, in order to facilitate seamless continuum of care.
Experience in health care system improvement and innovation of patient care service delivery models.
Innovative leadership and coaching skills in developing others, with a proven collaborative team approach to decision-making.
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
Effective fiscal and financial management skills.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills.
Adept at negotiating and mediating resolutions to complex situations.
Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with staff at all organizational levels, both internally and externally.
Understanding of various reports including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
Models and supports team commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) and anti-racism including oversight and commitment to education strategy.
Collaborates with peers to ensure ICS lens applied holistically through the department as whole.
