Job description:

The Communications Coordinator at picnic social strategies supports the marketing director, clients and marketing team by preparing content for a wide variety of digital marketing campaigns and monitoring their effectiveness using data. The coordinator will be responsible for drafting copy, creating design and scheduling approved content through several mediums. The ideal candidate will be excited to learn and grow in the digital marketing sphere, executing strategies into the launch of new products and brands across various industries.

The picnic team follows a hybrid model of flexible office and remote work throughout the work week. Some instances of evening and weekend work may apply, depending on event schedules.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Create and upload content to various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, Google Business and company blogs.

• Actively engage on social media channels, following each client social media strategy.

• Draft powerful marketing copy, headlines, CTAs and A/B testing that will be used for a variety of inbound content.

• Support in graphic design for client social media, posters, infographics and marketing materials.

• Support in video editing and publishing for social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.

• Support in maintaining and publishing content on Wordpress sites.

• Support with SEO and keyword strategy through Ubersuggest and Google Analytics.

• Conduct interviews and write articles and case studies for picnic social’s website, newsletter and email campaigns. This involves conducting research, editing and proofreading content and submitting it for release.

• Support in the research and analysis of industry and audience demographics for each client.

• Management of client content calendars, themes and public relations opportunities.

• Monthly social media reports with analysis for areas of improvement and future campaign strategy.

• Collaboration with other content contributors to upload, copyedit and publish content.

• Contribute to weekly brainstorming sessions on campaign strategy with the picnic team. These sessions might be focused on marketing, fundraising, advertising or public relations.

Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Both proofreading and grammar skills are a must.

• Demonstrate a firm understanding of how various social media channels and search engines work and differ, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, Google Search and Google Business.

• Working knowledge and experience with social editing software, such as Instagram Reels and TikTok videos.

• Working knowledge and practice of graphic design using Canva.

• A very strong ability to communicate concepts and ideas clearly and persuasively across all levels

• The ability to focus clearly on the precise details of the planning process.

• Excellent analytical abilities specifically regarding target audience.

• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Ability to be a great team player and collaborate with other individuals.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree or higher in journalism, marketing, or communications.

• 1-2 years of related work experience.

• Digital portfolio that includes examples of work experience, design and written samples.

• Knowledge of Canva and Adobe Software Suite is an asset.

• Knowledge of Google Suite is an asset.

• Knowledge of Ubersuggest is an asset.

• Knowledge of Mailchimp is an asset.

• Knowledge of Hubspot is an asset.

• Completion of Google Analytics certificate is an asset.

• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
