Play Hockey Looking for Director of Accounting and Finance at Winnipeg, MB Full Time

We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Accounting & Finance. This individual will provide leadership to our small and growing Finance team and will report directly to the President. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate and timely preparation, review, and analysis of company financial information.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and lead Play Hockey’s accounting and finance department.
• Oversee the recording and analyzing of transactions, posting journal entries, and reviewing reconciliations.
• Responsible for monthly financial reporting of multiple entities, including variance analysis.
• Responsible for monthly event and tournament closing reconciliations, including variance analysis.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and mid-year reforecasting.
• Prepare and maintain short term and long-term cash flow management tools.
• Act as the primary contact with the Company’s financial institutions.
• Responsible for working with the Company’s external accountants in preparing year-end financial statements including preparing appropriate working papers and responding to questions and requests.
• Support financial and non-financial strategic projects.
• Assisting with potential acquisition due diligence.
• Assisting with post-acquisition company integration.
• Review and monitor all monthly, quarterly and annual filings for taxes and other remittances.
• Implement and administer internal controls for business processes.
• Being an “internal champion” of Play Hockey’s accounting and finance, registration, and customer database IT systems.
• Assist senior leadership in management of foreign exchange hedging strategies.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Possess a University Degree or College Diploma in Accounting/Finance
• Possess a CPA designation
• 7-12 years of Accounting/Finance experience
• Knowledge of Accounting/Financial Software (i.e. QuickBooks)
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite with a strong focus in Excel
• Strong leadership, interpersonal communication, and team-oriented skills
• Able to work well within a small team and a fast-paced, growth environment
• Able to multi-task with strong attention to detail
