Plurilock Looking for Assistant Controller at Vancouver, BC Full Time

Job Description – Assistant Controller

Plurilock is looking for an Assistant Controller to join the team. This is a full time, permanent position. Reporting to the Controller, the incumbent of this position will be responsible own financial reporting and all regulatory reporting requirements for a public company and oversees accounting practices in subsidiaries worldwide. The Assistant Controller will be working remotely from anywhere within Canada.

What you will be doing:

• Provide supervision to accounting staff in AP, AR, payroll, book-keeping and related month-end close processes
• Review monthly account reconciliations prepared by the senior accountant
• Review and posting journal entries, maintain Chart of Accounts
• Review payment runs prepared by the staff accountant
• Coordinate with subsidiary controllers, obtain monthly financial results from subsidiaries and perform consolidation and post elimination entries
• Stock-based compensation management including working with our stock option administrator Computershare, monitor changes needed to be communicated to Computershare
• Monitor the level of equity the company owns on a monthly basis including common shares, options and warrants
• In charge of book-keeping related to complex accounting topics such as equity accounting related to financing and purchase price allocation related to acquisitions
• Provide advice and compose memorandums on complex accounting principles such as revenue recognition, financial instruments, leases, etc.
• Coordinate with external parties such as auditors, tax consultants as well as evaluation specialists
• Provide support to quarterly reviews and annual audits, provide PBC (provided-by-client) documents requested by auditors and answer questions and concerns

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

• A designated Chartered Professional Accountant
• Hands-on experience in drafting financial statements including statement of financial positions, statement of comprehensive loss, statement of equity, cashflow statement and related notes
• Experience in supervising, coordinating and working with subsidiary finance teams
• Possess 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting, audit or financial in a supervising function
• Experience working with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, Sage and Quickbooks
• Familiar with rules under IFRS and resourceful in finding literatures under IFRS and compose memorandums for complex accounting principles
• Basic knowledge in understanding the principles behind stock-based compensation, experience with Computershare as the stock option administrator will be an asset
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and productivity tools
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to take ownership of the role and its responsibilities while working independently and in a team environment
