As a Financial Controller at PLUS, you’ll be a strategic partner, and collaborator, reporting directly to the CEO. This newly created position reflects our commitment to financial excellence in every facet of our business. You’ll work side by side with our CEO, influencing key decisions that drive our growth and success at PLUS.

Serving as an invaluable asset to the Leadership Team, the Financial Controller will adopt a hands-on approach to financial oversight within the business, spearheading all accounting functions. This role is pivotal in steering and facilitating communication throughout the organization, while also providing indispensable financial support and fostering heightened financial awareness within the PLUS ecosystem.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Financial Strategy: Oversee the creation and management of tailored budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the business and its various locations and sales channels.
• Performance Monitoring: Evaluate financial performance and generate regular reports to steer decision-making for senior management.
• Internal Controls: Implement and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures, ensuring financial integrity and compliance.
• Financial Reporting: Lead monthly and yearly financial closing processes, meticulously preparing accurate financial statements.
• Collaborative Insights: Collaborate with various teams to provide financial analysis and recommendations that drive strategic initiatives.
• Cash Flow Operations: Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring smooth cash flow operations.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Foster professional growth within the team, providing mentorship and leadership.
• External Relationships: Establish and nurture relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
• Process Enhancement: Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and processes, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.

Key Deliverables:

• Accurate Financial Statements: Prepare and present precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, inventory reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Budgets and Forecasts: Develop, monitor, and update budgets and financial forecasts aligned with sales and operational goals.
• Cash Flow Management: Oversee and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations.
• Expense Control: Implement measures for cost control and analyze expenses to identify potential savings without compromising quality.
• Inventory Management: Collaborate with inventory teams to track and analyze inventory levels, turnover rates, and valuation.
• Audit and Compliance: Collaborate with external auditors, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and legal requirements.
• Ad Hoc Reporting: Provide ad hoc financial analyses and reports as required.

Education, Training, & Experience Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• Tax Compliance: Proficient in handling sales tax remittances to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Experience: 3 years of financial management, controlling or bookkeeping experience, preferably within the retail sector. 
• Retail Familiarity: Strong understanding of retail financial principles, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Analytical Proficiency: Exceptional analytical skills, effectively interpreting and communicating complex financial data.
• Software Skills: Proficient in financial software and systems; experience with Quickbooks and Shopify is a plus.
• Excel and Programming: Proficient in Excel, with experience in Python or other programming languages being advantageous.
• Task Management Solutions: Proficient with various Task Management software like Asana, Monday.com or other similar tools. 
• Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with various departments and external partners.
• Detail-Oriented: Detail-oriented with a commitment to precision and ethical financial practices.
• Fast-Paced Environment: Comfortable thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced working environment
