CORPORATE CONTROLLER (REMOTE WITHIN EASTERN OR ATLANTIC STANDARD TIME)

Purplefarm Genetics is a cannabis production facility, and with our expansion into Fredericton, NB, we are looking for a Corporate Controller to oversee our financial operations. You will be performing financial planning, optimizing financial processes, and preparing budgets and reports for both our Fredericton, NB and Johnstown, ON facilities.
Responsibilities would include:
- Participate in developing corporate strategy
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare timely monthly financial statements
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Coordinate the financial processes with corporate strategy
- Develop strong corporate relationships with bank and investment partners
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with local, provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors/reviewers
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Assistance with working capital and cash flow management
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide for a system of management cost reports
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Refining Purplefarm Genetics cost modelling
- Additional Corporate Controller duties as necessary.
Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a similar field
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or a professional designation such as the chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation
- At least five years’ experience as a financial administrator, or similar – no experience in the cannabis industry is required
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered a strong asset
- Competency in accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Knowledge of accounting standards and industry regulations.
- Extensive experience in corporate finances, auditing, and performance management.
- Superb organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Position:
- Full-time (Remote), within Eastern or Atlantic Standard Time
- 10% of position will involve travel to both our N.B. and ON facilities
- Overtime is required during peak times and to meet deadlines
