We have an exciting opportunity in our growing Toronto office for a Junior Accountant on our Finance team.

As an Junior Accountant at PRL, a typical day might include the following:

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day operations of the accounting function, including transactions related to the general ledger, revenue, receivables, and payables;
• Assist with consumption tax returns;
• Prepare reconciliations and maintaining detailed supporting working papers in compliance with ASPE;
• Provide financial analysis and insight for management;
• Monitor cash flow activities and prepare distributions;
• Manage and streamline assigned processes where possible;
• Assist in the coordination of the annual financial statements audit and external statutory audits;
• Assist in the formulation of accounting policies in accordance with the ASPE;
• Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, financial management, or similar (enrollment in a professional certification program (e.g. CPA) is an asset).
• Minimum 1 – 2 years experience working as an junior accountant.
• Understanding of best financial practices and accounting processes.
• Intermediate to advanced MS experience (especially Excel) and finance software.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work in a high-pressure environment.
• Display exemplary ethical behavior when working with confidential documents.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members.
• Experience within a Financial Services/Insurance industry would be an asset
