The Finance Clerk is responsible for processing the accounting transactions of the School. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the Finance Clerk’s main areas of responsibility are the general finance clerical duties including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, school shop and general ledger.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable/Receivable, including: invoice entry, payment and/or receipt processing, reconciliation of vendor and credit card statements, updating spreadsheets for A/R data entry, and maintenance of customer charging authorizations
Prepare spreadsheets for ease of transactional data entry
Deposit preparation, including taking deposit to financial institution
Credit card processing and reporting
Distribution of pocket money to students
Preparation of donation receipts
Assist with payroll processing as required
File accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, deposit, and donation documents; ensure documents are accurate, complete and secure
Attend scheduled staff meetings, professional development, and other mandatory school staff meetings as designated within the school calendar year
Qualifications
Courses in bookkeeping or accounting from a recognized post-secondary program, or other relevant combination of education and experience
Minimum 2 years’ previous accounting experience in full cycle accounting.
High level of IT proficiency / experience on a range of computerized accounting and payroll systems (experience with Sage AccPac 300 would be desirable)
Highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience, sensitivity and awareness of working within a multi-cultural environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Windows software, specifically Excel

Working Conditions
Twice a year (for the School’s annual Christmas Bazaar and Gala), a weekend shift is required
Vacation must be scheduled subject to departmental needs
