Job Summary
A Brief Overview
Reporting to the Associate Director, Advising, Appeals and Academic Consideration, the Academic Advising Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the academic advising service in the Faculty of Arts and Science. The Team Lead is responsible for all administrative duties relating to the advising portfolio, including: scheduling, staffing and managing processes (reporting, referrals, case notes, etc.) The Team Lead also serves as the senior advisor responsible for assisting with training, support, guidance and supervision of the advising team; manages referrals from other support services on campus as well as serves as the primary academic contact for Promise and Commitment Scholars.
The Academic Advising Team Lead works closely with key portfolios in the Faculty Office (Registration, Front-Line Service, Marketing) to ensure the seamless delivery of advising services to students. The Team Lead also assists with project work related to advising service and participates in recruitment, orientation and professional development-related activities.
This position provides academic advice to students including degree requirements, degree planning, course selection, graduation eligibility, and academic integrity and/or consideration. This position provides subject matter expertise to students on knowledge of academic regulations, accommodations, and appeal options. This position develops, recommends and implements program recruitment strategy including marketing messages, publications and promotions. Participates as a member of various committees including providing feedback and conveying important information about student concerns and best practices.
Develops, recommends and implements program recruitment strategy including marketing messages, publications and promotions.
Provides referrals to additional resources.
Monitors academic progress requirements including tracking academic records, transfer credits, and facilitating individual student study plans.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education
Master’s Degree or equivalent. Required Experience
More than 5 years of experience.
Experience with providing administrative support considered an asset (e.g., document editing, proofing, formatting and production, data entry, scheduling/coordinating meetings and/or travel arrangements, receiving/relaying messages, etc.).
Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
