A national specialty pharmacy with a location in Edmonton is looking for Pharmacy Assistants to join their team during a busy season. In this role, you will have the chance to:

• gain non-retail pharmacy experience in a pharmacy that is closed to the public (no walk-in patients)
• work steady hours, weekdays only: M-F either 9am – 5pm or 8:30am – 4:30pm (we are seeking talent who are available between 8:30am and 5pm weekdays to work either shift time – no weekends or rotating shifts!)
• potential to extend your contract, based on performance!
• receive training from experienced pharmacy professionals!

This contract starts during the first week of February (estimated Feb 5th start date) and will run until March 1st and if you do well in the role, there is a strong likelihood your contract will be extended (month-to-month, as per the South Edmonton area.

Responsibilities

Pharmacy Assistants – Edmonton – Healthcare

What YOU will be doing as a Pharmacy Assistant:

• Picking and labelling medications for pharmacy technicians and pharmacists to later verify
• Communicating with team members in a large team setting; closed-to-the-public pharmacy setting (no direct patient communication)
• May be involved in the preparation and printing of prescription shipping waybills, ensuring 100% accuracy of patient, order and shipment information for delivery
• Filling prescriptions in an office style pharmacy setting / modern, bright, clear and safe environment
• May rarely be involved in entry of prescriptions into Kroll software; primary focus of the role is filling/dispensing (standing for majority of shift at filling table) for technicians and pharmacists to verify/check
• Please note there are no PPE requirements for this role, however, pharmacy staff are required to follow provincial guidelines in terms of COVID and/or other respiratory illnesses

What YOU bring to the role of Pharmacy Assistant:

• 6 months to 1 year of experience in any pharmacy setting (International Pharmacy Graduates who are pursuing Pharmacist licensing over the next year to two years who are looking for temporary work are encouraged to apply)
• Strong interest in learning about non-retail pharmacy settings for those looking to transition from community/retail pharmacy into a new setting
• Excellent attention to detail, able to spot and fix errors
• Fast learner, comfortable with on-the-job training
• Great communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a large team
• Comfortable walking and being on your feet for much of the day
• Able to lift up to 10lbs
