The Associate Director, Contracts & Supply Chain serves as the Raytheon ELCAN (“ELCAN”) lead for all Contracts and Supply Chain activities, providing strategic advice to the ELCAN Managing Director and Leadership Team on all contractual matters. The Associate Director, Contracts & Supply Chain gives strategic direction for commercial activities, functional initiatives and acts as a focal point for all customers and suppliers. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of exceptional leadership qualities, critical thinking skills, excellent technical skills, deep legal/transactional expertise, and strong business acumen.
The Associate Director, Contracts & Supply Chain is a member of the ELCAN Senior Leadership team and reports to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all 3rd party agreements, negotiations, and legal compliance in accordance with applicable corporate guidelines.
Responsible for cradle to grave material management.
Provide strategic leadership to develop innovative Contracts and Supply Chain solutions.
Support the achievement of Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Mission Area objectives.
Develop a unique understanding of the complex defence environment along with a strong understanding of our customer needs for flow through to our supply chain so as to improve their understanding of our requirements.
Develop purposeful engagements with domestic and international customers and suppliers.
Ensure commercial solutions are aligned with domestic and international acquisition processes.
Establish credibility and trusted relationships with business partners, employees, and domestic and international customers.
Engage in business issues to ensure expeditious closure.
Ensure successful governance/compliance of the ELCAN business.
Be an active member of the ELCAN Leadership Team contributing to all strategic initiatives.
Liaise with all UK, US and Corporate Contracts and Legal Leadership on matters of contractual liability or significance.
Provide day-to-day advice to the ELCAN Managing Director and Leadership Team on contractual matters related to government and commercial transactions applicable to the Raytheon ELCAN business.
Ensure compliance with all legal, contractual, and strategic business goals through our Business Development and Execution processes.
Drive a culture focused on our customers ensuring a balancing of managing risk, creating an environment based in empowerment, efficiency while maintaining necessary controls.
Provide oversight on the drafting and/or review of complex government and commercial agreements and support the members of the Contracts team on negotiations with external and internal stakeholders.
Implement best practices for the performance management and professional development of members of the team, including acting as a coach and mentor.
Establish a budget for the team and implement best practices to monitor the team’s budget through the fiscal year.
Position Requirements:
Between 10 and 15 years’ experience as a contracts/transactional professional, commercial services professional, project management professional, and or legal services professional within the aerospace, defense or high-technology industries, with experience in drafting, negotiating and managing complex and high-profile transactions with both government and commercial entities
Previous experience working within a public company is an asset
Post-secondary degree in business, finance/accounting, law or engineering from a recognized university
Eligible to secure and maintain Canadian secret level security clearance
Willingness to travel internationally
Experience working with members of a senior leadership team as a trusted advisor and business partner. Demonstrated ability to provide sound counsel and recommendations to anticipate and respond to the needs of the business
Experience with both Direct Government Contracts along with Government flow downs as well as working in Business to Business contractual environment.
Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills with a capacity to build strong working relationships across the organization
Excellent leadership skills and previous experience managing a team of contracts/transactional professionals.
A demonstrated ability to lead and manage several complex files, initiatives and demands concurrently
