M&A/ACQUISITIONS SEARCH PROFESSIONAL TO JOIN DEAL SEARCH TEAM
(PAID, F/T, P/T, IDEAL FOR BUSINESS SCHOOL GRAD)
The Opportunity:
We are a self-funded group of investors looking to hire a business school graduate to source and create deal flow for the acquisition of small-mid size businesses in Canada.
The successful candidate will drive our business acquisition activities by engaging owners of companies who want to exit their businesses.
Ideal for a business-minded professional who can generate and nurture M&A relationships through cold outreach, conversations and developing relationships. The successful candidate will be handling a broad range of responsibilities including increasing business acquisition deal flow, building relationships with potential sellers, due diligence, pre- and post-sale operational analysis and financial modelling.
Must be skilled with list building and CRM management.
Ongoing and direct collaboration with our Founder to develop and execute on innovative M&A Strategy. We have offices in Toronto and Ottawa, Canada and prefer onsite working at our Ottawa office, however we are open to hybrid or remote working. We have an immediate need to fill this role and we can be flexible with weekly number of hours and weekly work schedule. Ideal for recent top business school grads.
What you will be doing:
• Conduct industry research to identify businesses that meet our criteria for acquisition
• Identify and research business owners who may be looking to retire, sell or to take on investors/partners now or in the future
• Build a database of potential acquisitions that fit our acquisition criteria and maintain the acquisition pipeline
• Contact business owners/leaders directly and engage in meaningful high-level discussions which could lead to an acquisition transaction
• Directly solicit and engage companies via cold calling, telephone, LinkedIn or other methods to discuss potential acquisition
• Maintain and build a proprietary database of industry contacts
• Nurture the business relationships over time and follow up in a systematic manner
• Track activities and maintain relevant information in CRM
• Generate and report on leads, set up qualified appointments and move opportunities through our acquisition pipeline
• Lead all conversations toward signing of Non-Disclosure Agreements to start the M&A process
• Participate in deal analysis, LOI preparation and negotiations.
Ideal Candidate MUST Possess (please do not apply if you have no relevant education or experience):
• Successful completion of at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, M&A studies or related field. Ideally an MBA.
• Demonstrated success in cold calling, prospecting and sales processes
• Some prior sales experience or business development experience
• Preference given to those with relevant M&A work / internship experience (i.e., strategy / corporate development, investment banking, venture capital, private equity, etc.)
• Some experience in M&A (buy or sell side)
• Understanding of M&A deal flow and integration processes
• Comfortable handling initial “cold” conversations with potential targets
• Proficient with leading CRM and Excel
