DESCRIPTION

Real Talk Group is looking for a Field Engineer to support the technical execution of our major project, Duggan Tunnel Replacement Project. The successful candidate will be performing a wide range of tasks and support business priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position will be based in Edmonton, AB.

The Field Engineer will support the close out of our planning phase a we enter the new year, and will transition to an on-site role during the construction phase which is scheduled for substantial completion in November 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
• Perform quality inspection for temporary and permeant materials, develop and comply with ITPs, issue NCR for delivered materials and make sure remedy action is taken to close all NCR on timely manner, Ensure compliance with company quality requirements and standards
• In coordination with project leadership, assist with coordination of activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• Assist superintendent in their daily operation, ensuring delivery of all materials as per operation schedule, generate and issue daily reports, track and report any internal or external delays onsite, ensuring operation have all the required permits, construction plans, and most update revision of site specific safety plans and emergency response plan
• Perform an environmental inspection as per the guidelines highlighted in the approved project environmental plan
• Identify purchasing needs and initiate the purchase requisition process.
• Participate in the development of Hazard Analysis’, subsequent toolbox meetings, and work plans and packages to enable work to be executed efficiently.
• Provide planning, reporting, and forecasting support to project leadership.
• Track permanent materials and bulk commodities per established procedure.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• 2-4 years of related construction experience with a contractor; Preference to those who have been involved with microtunneling/trenchless, urban tunneling, or urban heavy civil infrastructure with major underground work scopes.

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders including third party consultants, client liaisons, regulators, and team members in the field.
• Strong proficiency with technical software Primavera P6, MS Project and Bluebeam is preferred.
• Successfully uses critical thinking, problem solving, and adaptability skills in a fast paced environment.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent coursework in Civil or Mining Engineering
• Must be registered or eligible to be registered, as an EIT within the Province of Alberta

LANGUAGES

• Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
