The Sr. Tax Analyst is a ‘hands on’ tax specialist that will contribute significantly to the tax function including tax compliance, tax provisions, tax research and planning for RECIPE. The Sr. Tax Analyst will be responsible for contributing to a variety of functions including month end, quarter end, and year-end processes, while maintaining and implementing the company’s legislative and regulatory compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of the following Canadian income tax related items by legal entity:
Monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provisions
Annual income tax returns
Income tax instalments schedules
Income tax true-ups
Review of notices of assessment or reassessment
Responsible for commodity tax administration including:
Tax assessment and reassessments, payments and refund
Preparation of monthly, quarterly or annual commodity tax remittances
Monitor all commodity tax cheque requisitions
Monitoring commodity tax accounts
Prepare U.S sales and use tax returns
Assist in preparing responses to inquiries for federal and provincial income tax and commodity tax audits
Monitor tax developments and government assistance programs to provide guidance as to the potential impact on RECIPE and its business
Provide general tax advice and expertise as required
Work is performed in a hybrid office environment with 2 days a week in the office and 3 days working remotely
Skills:
University education in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or other related area
Accounting designation, CPA
The completion of the CICA’s in depth tax course would be an asset
Minimum of 3 years in tax experience required
Bilingual (French and English) would be an asset
Ability to provide tax advice to the business
Strong tax technical skills (both income and commodity taxes)
Previous experience with multiple legal entity and multi-divisional corporate structures
Proficiency in the use of tax preparation software (TaxPrep)
Knowledge of JD Edwards financial system would be an asset
Well organized, strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
