Sales Assistant

Established in 1966, Red Hat Co-operative Ltd. is the central packaging, marketing and distribution facility for over 30 independently owned greenhouse operations in SE Alberta. Red Hat’s central location is ideal for distribution of our produce to major wholesale and grocery retailers throughout western Canada. Our modern 100,000 square foot packaging facility operates year round and employs over 200 staff.

This position provides assistance to the Sales team in a variety of day to day sales and administrative activities, including direct customer communication, preparation and processing of related documentation, and providing services to a wide variety of clients, growers and internal team members.

Sales Administration

Reporting to the General Manager, the primary function of this position is work with the sales team with day to day activities. Dependent on ability, the potential exists for this position to take on expanded responsibilities in the sales and marketing areas.

Specific Responsibilities: receive and process sales orders via phone, fax and EDI, database – spreadsheet maintenance/entry, monitoring daily produce inventories, maintain and monitor various sales and logistic reports, maintain product specification information. Play a key role in departmental communication as it relates to the order / delivery process – including sales / shipping / order building. Provide superior customer service by directly communicating with produce buyers providing information on product availability and retail / food service opportunities.

Qualifications: Relevant secondary education required with a minimum of 2 years administrative experience – preferably in a customer relations environment. High proficiency in standard MS Office software (strong Excel skills are required), clear and effective verbal and written communication skills. Accounting and/or receivable experience are considered assets. The successful applicant will be a self-starter who takes initiative and requires limited supervision.

Compensation is dependent on experience. Red Hat Co-operative also offers group medical and RRSP benefits on a cost share basis.
