Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced film accounting with an energetic eager personality to work out of our Burnaby office. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Head of Production Accountant will oversee all shows in BC across 2 production centers, reporting to producers whilst managing the accounting team of 6-8 individuals.
Main Responsibilities
- Weekly funding draw requests for all shows
- Cost Reports
- Hot Costs
- Set-up of all shows for Accounting purposes
- Oversee the Payroll Department as well as supervise and guide the AP clerks
- Ensure proper labor coding across all shows
- Designing and implementing various control procedures
- Maintaining, growing and developing digitizing solutions
- Management of production accounting database for digital paperwork (users, access etc)
- Reviewing and approving costs related to the shows in line with Studio principles & guidelines
- Manage and coordinate with Business Affairs with various recoupment schedules
- Maintain payment schedules for various departments
- Continuous training and guidance for all accounting staff
- Acts in advisory capacity to all production departments and corporate (studio)
- Reconciling all shows prior to hand over to post production accounting
- Quarterly reporting to the parent company
- Prepare bank reconciliations for various entities
- Prepare monthly GST filings
- Other duties as required by the position
Experience and Qualifications
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma/degree, training and experience
- A minimum of 10 plus years of progressive experience in film and entertainment corporate and production accounting
- Experience leading an Accounting team, confident in making decisions
- Exceptionally strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook Applications
- Experience with Accounting software
- Ability to perform successfully with minimal supervision
- Able to produce accurate work and handle multiple tasks
- Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Eagerness to learn and become a strong contributing member to our team
