The Opportunity:
Scope of the position
As the most senior member of the FP&A team, the Manager of FP&A is responsible for the overall supervision and support of the day-to-day operations of the Financial Analysts.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for supervising and coaching the Financial Analysts.
Assist in developing, documenting, and implementing effective internal controls and processes to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information.
Preparing monthly management accounts, reports and presentations containing visual aids to accompany written analysis.
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting.
Preparing various reports containing historical or future-oriented financial information and analysis.
Preparing quarterly financial statement discussion and analysis report and presentation, including year-to-date budget-to-actual variance explanations, for senior management and the owners.
Prepare clear and concise technical analysis of significant business transactions and new accounting standards.
Assist with the monthly/quarterly/year-end financial close and reporting process.
Design and implement monthly reporting requirements that are in line with RSL’s corporate and strategic goals.
Work collaboratively with the Finance team to ensure all contractual and statutory reporting deadlines are met.
Manage all aspects of financial planning activities, including preparing the annual operating and capital budget and year-to-date budget forecasts.
Prepare and deliver ad-hoc reporting and sensitivity analysis as required.
Assists with risk assessments and testing of controls ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Establish and maintain relationships with strategic business partners and key stakeholders.
Identify and evaluate risks to the company, both internal and external
Skills and Qualifications
A professional accounting or finance designation such as a Chartered Professional Accountant.
7+ years of accounting and finance experience.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures including month-end and fiscal year-end reporting process and creating financial statements and disclosures.
Effective coaching and mentoring skills and previous experience with direct reports including hiring, training and completing performance reviews are required.
Excellent cost and financial accounting skills.
Experience developing internal control policies and procedures.
Ability to prepare and communicate financial reports to the Senior Leadership Team.
Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office including advanced proficiency with Excel spreadsheets.
Experience in the supervision of staff including team leadership, performance management and training and development an asset.
Technology savvy with experience in working with data analytics software.
Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills allow for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
Epicor Prophet 21 system experience is an asset.
Experience with a large portfolio ideally a budget of over $250 million or more servicing a minimum of 10 locations or cost centres.
