Summary*

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing the engineering team while developing overall technical strategies to manage RHK products and services. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the design processes and ensuring a timely execution of engineering projects. This role will provide technical information, advice, and assistance to other departments within the organization and in part with the operations team, will be involved in evaluating technical designs and conducting reviews on challenging projects.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead and manage the design team to achieve company goals.
• Develop and Execute the Engineering Strategy in collaboration with executive leadership and the leaders of Production, Sales & Marketing, Quality & Safety, and Supply Chain that provides a sustained competitive advantage in operations excellence.
• Oversee the entire design and development process of manufactured products from the initial planning phase to production.
• Manage the design and drawing database
• Track costs related to the creation of new products and provide recommendations to the leadership team.
• Manage software integration with ERP system to enable the development of quotations, product pricing, bill of materials, product labels, product ratings, and material requirements for every product line
• Work with QC department on implementation of standard work, aiding QC in a support role to close out CARs and implement long term and sustainable fixes to prevent reoccurrence.
• Development and maintain the standards, systems, and workflows of the engineering department
• Ensure projects are designed in accordance with customer requirements and engineering specifications.
• Develop and implement best practices for drawings and specifications related to RHK products.
• Assign, coordinate and review technical work.
• Apply knowledge of materials, requirements, performance, and limitations
• Foster a team-based problem-solving methodology.
• Support Operations in conducting Engineering Repair Orders (ERO).
• Provide project and technical support to other departments as required.
• Collaborate with other leaders to determine project validity and provide technical support as needed.
• Review large project plans to ensure that timelines, assembly drawings are accurate and that cost estimates tie in with the budget.
• Support Operations with optimizing and performance of the existing manufacturing process.
• Identify opportunities for new manufacturing technology and manufacturing process improvements.
• Create a climate that promotes process improvement for all functions.

Experience and Skill Requirements*

• Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) by APEGA is required.

• Engineering Degree in Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience with drafting software (i.e., Tekla, AutoCAD, Solidworks or other equivalent systems).
• PMP designation or coursework/training in project management; financial management; public administration; change management; or other leadership training would be an asset.
• Manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
• Leadership skills with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with employees, supervisors, managers, outside resources, and stakeholders.

• Experience analyzing data and translating such into informative visuals and reports to present sound recommendations.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, with strong to advanced skills in Excel.
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to conduct effective presentations.

• Motivated, energetic, goal-oriented, with a strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

• Excellent time-management and organizational skills, ability to work independently and deliver to a variety of commitments and deadlines despite altering time frames and schedules.
• Advanced technical skills with an ability to adapt and learn new software and application quickly.
