RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

The clinical research coordinator – nurse must ensure the smooth running of the clinical studies. He or she must work in collaboration with the members of the team and health care group to take the responsibility of the overall management of patients and coordinate the different clinical studies.

General Duties

Working under the supervision of the clinic director, the incumbent will:

  • Supervise all aspects of the visits as part of the study and collaborate with the members of the medical team,
  • Carry out the clinical and physical assessment of study participants, in accordance with the requirements of the protocol,
  • Give different types of injections that require monitoring,
  • Recruits participants for the research study,
  • Maintain and update the concomitant medication patient register, list of undesirable events, questionnaires and source documents, according to the protocol,
  • Ensure the safety of patients and drug compliance, complete the patient record appropriately,
  • Coordinate the tests required under the protocol,
  • Verify drug compliance and patient records,
  • Coordinate all aspects of the data collection and source documentation with the clinic secretary,
  • Carry out any other task assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Specific Responsibilities

Maintain contact with colleagues in the clinic, nurses in the preoperative clinic, secretaries of surgeons and the Centralized Operating Room Booking (CORB) staff, with other doctors and CLSCs regarding patients’ records.

Education: College diploma (DEC)

Field of Study: Nursing studies

Studies in other fields considered an asset for this job:

Work Experience: one year of experience in a related field

Other Requirements

  • Fluent in spoken and written French and English,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to work independently or within a team with minimum supervision,

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full time

Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience / $42,260.40 – $78,460.20.

Work Shift: 8 am to 4 pm

Work Site: Montreal General Hospital
