THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity to join a leading global parcel, freight, warehouse, and logistics company in a national executive position. Operating in over 40 countries and heavily invested to grow their already strong presence in North America, the Executive Vice President of Business Development, Canada will be responsible for leading the Sales & Marketing teams along with pursuing, cultivating, and nurturing corporate customer relationships across Canada.

This position will report directly to the Chief Freight Officer and Chief Parcel Officer, and work closely with decision-makers throughout the organization to recommend, develop, implement, and support growth focused solutions based on customer demands and alignment with company objectives and culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The EVP of Business Development is a critical position responsible for driving revenue and protecting company profitability by assessing, producing, and managing initiatives across all service segments within Canada.

• Accountable for setting company annual budgeted revenue targets and ensuring goals are met or exceeded.
• Responsible for developing, administering, communicating, managing, and reporting company targets to Senior Executive and other pertinent internal stakeholders.
• Foster relationships with high level leadership within both current and prospective customer organizations to protect and procure business.
• Develop deep understanding of our services and geographic markets to advance the identification of relevant and impactful investment or acquisition opportunities.
• Identify target areas for organic revenue growth for all business and service segments. Assess viability, profitability, and sustainability of each opportunity and make recommendations for implementation.
• Structure and articulate end-to-end analysis (strategic and financial) of potential new business streams.
• Coordinate with internal business segment leaders to identify growth opportunities between all companies under our corporate umbrella.
• Liaise with all necessary internal and associated customer departments to ensure unified onboarding of all new national, high value, or complex customers.
• Act as business lead for the company in customer contract negotiations and interface directly with external customer management, legal counsel, or other executing authorities.
• Make recommendations for new service development or tailor pricing recommendations based on customer, market, or company profitability.
• Travel when necessary to facilitate company, customer, or partnership meetings.
• Provide all necessary reports, paperwork, and documentation required by the Executive Team such as weekly or monthly dashboards, etc.
• Promote and build culture as it pertains to company policies and procedures, quality control, health and safety, etc.
• Actively lead in the assessment, procurement, and adoptions of current or new operating systems for Sales and Marketing teams.
• Make recommendations for improvement, replacement, or development of web-based tools to enhance the customer experience.
• Advance and mentor the team concept and work with company leadership to adopt training sessions, best practices, and overall strategy for success within their respective departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

• MBA strongly preferred or University Degree in Business Administration.
• Demonstrated experience and success in a senior executive leadership role with specialty in Sales, Logistics, IT, or other related corporate functions.
• Direct or relevant industry experience in transportation or logistics is necessary.
• Proven track record managing nine figure revenue budgets.
• Financial aptitude with ability to comprehend and communicate corporate metrics.
• Experience preparing and presenting Executive and Board level reports or summaries.
• Specific understanding of industry pricing disciplines including nets, D83, or discount-based tariffs is an asset.
• Demonstrated track record leading and building high performing teams.
• Experience procuring, managing, and fostering National and Multi-National corporate based customer partnerships; specifically in Canada and the United States.
• Experience in leading formal contract negotiations.
• Strong comprehension of legal and business terminology.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Expert in sales negotiations and customer relations.
• Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Proficient understanding of global economic and regional markets.
• Experience related to online content development such as website design initiatives, customer facing tools, interactive media development, data analytics or analysis, would be an asset.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Please note: this position can be located in Edmonton, Toronto, or Montreal (with Edmonton being the preferred location if possible).

TRAVEL

Willingness to travel up to 25%, both locally, nationally, and internationally as required.
