In this role, you will actively lead and participate in building new software and enhancements to existing applications for internal users across our grain handling, crop inputs, and food processing business divisions. You will also assess existing software applications and make recommendations to update and modernize those systems, on an ongoing basis. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are self-starters, results-oriented, and are ready to lead and mentor developers on a project team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to join our growing software development group, eager to participate in technical initiatives, and is looking forward to having a positive impact on our evolving business applications.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate as a member of a project team to understand and address business needs in a continuously-improving agile environment.

• Design, develop, and test new functionality in our Java-based web applications and web services.

• Participate and lead story-mapping sessions to break down project objectives into achievable development activities, and create technical documentation as required.

• Provide direction and support to software developers throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.

• Participate in code reviews, both by submitting your own working code, and by providing meaningful feedback to others.

• Actively learn and identify potential improvements to our development practices and pipeline.

• Provide support to project teams by effectively troubleshooting and resolving issues.

Qualifications:

• A degree or diploma in a computer science or related program.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.

• Working knowledge of web application technologies: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Java, REST APIs, and SQL.

• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to a continuous improvement mindset.

• Demonstrated project leadership and time management skills.

• Experience with any of the following would be an asset: Oracle PL/SQL, JSP, Bootstrap, Spring, Apache Struts, continuous delivery, agile project lifecycle.
