We are looking for a Commercial Logistics Specialist to manage all aspects of sourcing, negotiating, service levels and contract management for warehouse and truck service providers for inbound and outbound shipments to and from Canadian RTA and RTFT facilities. The value of portfolio being managed is $50M and the role requires coordinating & collaborating with many stakeholders, plant operations and commercial teams from various business units across different functions. The position is critical to our business by ensuring a flow of goods to and from our smelters while ultimately differentiating (Price & Service) Rio Tinto from its competitors.
Subject Matter Expertise
The individual is recognized as a specialist in own area of expertise; resolves complex problems and takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
Provides specialist subject matter expertise in relation to specific areas that may include procurement, inventory management, warehousing and/or transportation to ensure efficient supply of goods and products within the supply chain
Provide operational support and assistance to logistics analysts as required
Be seen as a strategic advisor by the business unit and commercial.
Portfolio & Contract Management
Develop and establish the sourcing strategy for the different modes in Canada based on the needs of each business units
Lead service provider contract negotiations, develop strategy for the portfolio
Implement & Manage contracts with Service providers (Contract Management)
Supplier Relation Management & lead the escalation management with service providers.
Cost & Process Improvement
The Specialist is to identify cost and process improvements throughout their respect supply chains
Reduce cost, create value and improve net working capital for the Business Units.
Develop business improvement ideas, participate in implementation and ensure the value delivered is being captured
Drive improvement through innovation (industry 4.0)
Produce logistics KPIs and dashboards to ensure Meet transportation budgets and cost reduction goals
Work with finance on market intel and analysis to gain competitive advantage
Identify opportunities to automate and optimize manual tasks and lead the implementation of new solutions
About you

>5 years experiences in a procurement, transportation or customer service function is required
Experience within a global organization with a focus on supporting stakeholders
Knowledge of Rio Tinto’s business units is an asset
Experience negotiating with service providers
Fluency in English and French is required

La valeur du portefeuille géré est de 50 M$ et le poste exige la coordination et la collaboration avec des nombreux intervenants, les opérations en usine et les équipes commerciales provenant de diverses unités d’affaires, notamment de différentes fonctions. Le poste est essentiel à notre entreprise, car il assure l’acheminement des biens à destination et en provenance de nos fonderies tout en permettant en bout de ligne à Rio Tinto de se différencier (prix et service) de ses concurrents.

Offrir un soutien et une aide opérationnels aux analystes de la logistique, au besoin

Gestion de portefeuille et de contrat
Développer et établir une stratégie d’approvisionnement, pour les différents modes en vigueur au Canada, basée sur les besoins de chaque unité d’affaires
Mener les négociations avec les fournisseurs de services et développer une stratégie pour le portefeuille
Mettre en œuvre et gérer des contrats avec les fournisseurs de services (gestion de contrats)
Gérer la relation avec les fournisseurs et mener la gestion des recours hiérarchiques avec les fournisseurs de services
Améliorations relatives aux coûts et aux processus
Déterminer les améliorations relatives aux coûts et aux processus pouvant être apportées aux chaînes d’approvisionnement
Réduire les coûts, créer de la valeur et améliorer le fonds de roulement net pour les unités commerciales
Générer des idées d’amélioration des affaires, participer à leur mise en œuvre et s’assurer que la valeur atteinte est maintenue
Implanter des améliorations par l’innovation (industrie 4.0)
Produire des IRC et des tableaux de bord, pour la logistique, pour s’assurer de respecter les budgets de transport et les objectifs de réduction des coûts
Travailler avec les finances à des renseignements et à des analyses en lien avec le marché, pour tirer un avantage concurrentiel
Recenser les occasions d’automatiser et d’optimiser les tâches manuelles; et mener la mise en œuvre de nouvelles solutions
