Under the direction of the Operations Manager, ensure that floods are done on time with safety being a prime concern. Primary responsibilities include ice resurfacing, edging, janitorial work & (T’s) ice plant, log readings, & some HVAC troubleshooting.
Flooding, edging and other ongoing maintenance of ice as scheduled.
(T) Monitor the ice plant regularly, keeping appropriate notes / records or reports.
Completes all log reports as required
Performs maintenance as may be required for the daily operation of the Zamboni: changing and toping up fluids, greasing, changing of blades, and other general maintenance.
Perform a variety of maintenance & repairs on and around the rinks, which may include changing boards, glass, painting, and other minor repairs. Capable of handling power and hand tools safely.
Do minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment.
Participates in keeping all areas of the facility neat, tidy and safe at all times. Inside and outside of the property
Dressing room cleanliness.
Making sure that all entrances are kept clean and safe of all debris and snow.
Responding to customers’ needs in a kind and courteous manner.
A team member, supporting and contributing throughout the facility and the business.
To look out for the safety of yourself, co-workers, guests and to follow all Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
Read and understand WHMIS SDS (Safety Data Sheets)
All other duties as assigned
A minimum of 1-year experience in the above field is preferred.
Arena Operator Level 1 is asset.
Basic computer knowledge and skills preferred
Ability to operate a Zamboni
Ability to use various equipment and tools common to the role and the facility.
Mechanical aptitude & all around knowledge of mechanical equipment.
Possess a positive work ethic and the ability to work with / communicate with Customers.
Must work well with peers and Management.
Must be able to follow directions, written and oral.
Must have good organization skills and good communication skills
Flexible with respect to shifts, ability to work evenings, weekends, graveyard and days.
