Major Responsibilities:
1. Provide professional and confidential care for residents and support daily living needs in accordance to resident care plans and document any resident changes.
2. Set-Up and Lead Resident Activities and help develop an active community lifestyle with the Director of Wellness.
3. Provide table side meal service for lunch and dinner
4. Provide assistance in dietary for dish and dining room cleaning as needed
5. Provide weekly housekeeping as needed
Job Description: Resident Care
1. Notifies the Director of Wellness of any resident and/or family concerns.
2. Attends and actively participates in daily communication meetings
3. Provides feedback in the assessment of every resident and in the development of the Plan of Care.
4. Answers call bells when necessary.
5. Observe and report any resident changes in condition
6. Complete nursing documentation if applicable as per residence policies and guidelines.
7. Deals courteously with staff, residents, resident families and visitors.
8. Helps residents maintain independence, promotes dignity and physical safety of each resident.
9. Strives to understand and respond to each resident with empathy, always remaining mindful of the resident’s unique communication patterns, history and basic human needs.
10. Assist with monthly blood pressures and weights as assigned.
11. Assist with any other duties as directed by the Director of Wellness.
12. Complete training under the supervision of the Director of Wellness for medication pass and receive UCP status.
Physical Demands:
1.Standing for long periods of time.
2. Walking short distances and up/down staircases.
3. Typing and/or use of a computer keyboard proficiently.
4. Pulling/pushing/lifting to open and/or relocate binders, carts, etc. up to 10lbs.
5. Bending, kneeling, providing walking support for residents in the provision of resident care where required.
7. Reading/seeing documentation both in paper format and on a computer screen.
8. Hearing differences in phone ring tones and/or in fire system horns or alerts for emergency response purposes.
9. Speaking/communicating with individuals.
10. Ability to maneuver in tight areas in Resident suites to provide care and housekeeping services
Qualifications:
1. Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting an asset.
2. Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors.
3. Good physical and mental health and free from communicable disease.
4. Certified in CPR and First Aid recommended.
5. Good written and verbal communication skills.
6. Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices and procedures.
7. PSW certification, if applicable
8. Vulnerable Sector Check
9. Current 2-Step TB Testing
10. Covid-19 & Flu Shot (Strongly Recommended)
