The Role:
The Accounting Manager will report to the Business Unit Manager and have dotted-line reporting to the Division Controller based in the US. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department (AR, AP, General Ledger, Internal Controls), monitoring and analyzing accounting data to produce financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company financial policies. This role will also be responsible for driving results by accurately preparing, interpreting, and communicating business unit financial information.
What You bring to the Role:
To be considered for this position, you should have 4+ years of general accounting and month end close experience. You are comfortable overseeing full cycle accounting and managing the month end close. You have strong supervisory experience and people management skills. Candidates with a CPA or in currently actively pursuing their CPA designation are preferred. Our client considers industry experience to be critical to the Accounting Manager’s success. To be considered for this role, you must have distribution, CPG or B2B experience. Strong ERP experience and Excel skills are required.

Oversee the daily activities of the Finance department and ensure that all major projects, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights for departments and management.
Work closely with operations team to analyzes changes in inventory levels, COGS, PPV, FX and freight to determine effects on costs.
Set up standard cost for new products, reviewed formulas, and update standard cost for existing products.
Monthly financial analysis including: revenue forecasting, material margin and variable margin analysis, OH expenses, sourcing savings, slow moving inventory and monitor PPV.
Provide monthly commentary on variances, trends and financial results: have a solid understanding of the story behind the numbers and effectively communicate to non-Finance staff.
Possess a strong competitive drive to win; balanced with the ability to work directly and through others to implement strategies and goals.
Participate in annual business and long-range planning processes including departmental expense budgeting.
Assist and/or lead assigned projects as required.
Support enterprise initiatives of cost efficiency including cost reduction initiatives and capital projects analysis.
Develop or re-engineer financial processes to increase efficiency and support emerging business initiatives including a leadership role in the expansion of our business intelligence reporting dashboard.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Qualified candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
CPA designation or late stages of the CPA program.
4 – 7 years of relevant experience inventory/management accounting, preferably supporting a manufacturing operation/business
Highly experienced in accounting procedures with CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) and selling to national retailers and distributors.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Working knowledge of general ledger functions
Strong knowledge of Canada and USA GAAP
Robust professional communication skills
Experience with ERP accounting software
Experience with utilizing reporting tools such as Power BI or Board a plus
