Robert Half Looking for Bookkeeper at Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada Full Time

Are you a Bookkeeper looking to join a CPA firm that will provide work-life balance, and a hybrid work model? Our Burnaby client, a well-established CPA firm are looking to add a Bookkeeper to their boutique firm. This role has a competitive benefits package including extended health and paid overtime.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Partners and Managing Directors of this well run personable Public Practice firm, the successful Bookkeeper will be responsible for

• Accurately record financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
• Regularly reconcile bank statements and financial records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Calculate and process payroll, including taxes and benefits, and maintain payroll records in compliance with relevant regulations.
• Maintain and update the general ledger by posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members regarding financial matters, responding to queries and providing necessary information.
• Provide support to the CPA team during tax season, audits, and other financial projects as required.

Requirements

To qualify for this exciting opportunity:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) would be a plus.
• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, ideally 2 plus years within a CPA firm or similar professional setting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 50) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
• Have a minimum of 1 year of Canadian tax accounting experience with a public practice firm
• Have some form of formal education in accounting; those pursuing their CPA designation are preferred
• Have working experience with CaseWare and QuickBooks Online
• You have a demonstrated ability to perform the above duties, possess great interpersonal skills and a willingness to put your can-do work ethic to take on other duties as required
