As part of our Global Finance Team, the Group Controller reports to the CFO and will provide financial leadership, operational support, and analysis for all financial results and obligations for our Data Solutions businesses (3v Geomatics and Navstar) along with our overarching brand, and our holding companies. Our Data Solutions businesses include but are not limited to: monitoring as a service (MaaS) business and project orders where services are offered in conjunction with products. MaaS will include data processing, data reporting, and data management. Services may be bundled with product sales on some projects. Much of this business is considered recurring. This position will be responsible for preparing consolidated financial statements and will drive the year end audit process, working with the finance leaders of our manufacturing entities.
This is a newly created position within the organization, so we expect the responsibilities of the role to evolve over time, depending on the needs.
Accounting and Finance Responsibilities:
General:
o Manage financial statements Preparation for five operating companies.
o Under CFO guidance and with assistance from operating company Finance Leaders, prepare consolidated financial statements for the group.
o Work with the CFO to improve the finance and accounting function.
o Identify and opportunities for improvement in reporting, collections, payment cycles, payroll, etc.
o Partner with business leaders to help understand their needs.
o Oversee the Global Payroll and Benefits process
Reporting:
o Manage the monthly close process for companies under the roles’ responsibility
o Prepare the monthly reporting package and quarterly board decks
o Continue to expand / improve KPIs and metrics (financial, operational and sales related), and ensure they are actionable.
o Prepare annual budgets / forecasts.
o Ensure GAAP reporting and ability to pass the annual audit.
External Reporting:
o Assist with annual audit process, in coordination with the CFO / Director of Finance.
o Assist with tax and SRED claims, in coordination with the CFO.
o Manage compliance filings, as necessary.
o ERP – Assist with implementation of Epicor Multi-Company ERP.
o ERP Report Writing – Assist with writing report in XL Connect Excel Add-in and using BAQ functionality in Epicor.
o Cash flows – Review 13-week cash flow and assist in analysis of cash flows with CFO.
o Payroll – Review payroll for accuracy and assist with making improvements.
o Assist with global audit including creating and maintaining schedules, converting local reporting to IFRS and managing/improvement consolidation process.
o Capex – Prepare business cases for capital expenditures and investments; and return on investment.
The company is seeking a financial leader who is detail oriented, operationally savvy, strategic, proactive and hands-on who will partner closely with the Executive team and other business leaders to provide accurate reporting to help drive growth. This person should be a dynamic leader with high EQ, strong financial discipline, a metrics-driven approach to driving improvement, strong systems knowledge, humility, integrity and have costing/manufacturing experience.
