This contract Senior Payroll Team Lead engagement will be reporting to the Department Supervisor and providing technical guidance to a team of 2. Main duties include:
• Provides technical and resource support to the team
• Responsible for the timely completion of payroll and benefit deduction processing for an assigned employee group
• Performs complex calculations for a variety of situations such as new hires, leaves, position changes, and terminations
• Recognizes potential payroll and benefits problems; investigates resolves and reports on problems as required
• Provides information to employees regarding their payroll and balance records as well as information to departmental officers and staff members on methods used in computing pay and answers inquiries from outside sources
• Monitors and reconciles payroll benefit enrolments and reporting against payroll and billing, initiates corrective action when needed and/or makes appropriate recommendations to management, timely submission plan enrolment and adjusting entries
• Prepares workbooks, templates, letters and forms required for validating and coordinates the schedule in adherence to the payroll calendar deadlines
To be considered for this engagement, you are a designated payroll professional (PCP or CPM) and with at least 5+ years of full-cycle payroll and benefits administration experience. You are a strong communicator with a customer-centric mindset.
– Certified Payroll Profession (CPP) certification advised
– Practical knowledge of Unionized Payroll process and calculation
– Microsoft Excel experience is highly desired
– General familiarity with payroll systems for 100-500 employees
– Well-founded grasp of Canadian Payroll
– Strong familiarity with Employee Benefit and Pension Plan
– Understands payroll-related cloud-based technology solutions
– Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
