What you get to do every day
– Other duties as assigned
– Draft reports by organizing all summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
– Provide help with all internal and external audits of payroll
– Able to reconcile employee deductions and other liabilities
– Promote employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and keeping information confidential
– Handle payroll record updates by keeping changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
– Exercise review and verification of source documents
– Detail all payroll liabilities by establishing employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payment
– Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads
– Payroll information management via collecting, calculating, and entering data
– Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines
– Handle all payroll information questions and requests
– Follow established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations and report changes as necessary
– Resolve payroll discrepancies via information collection and analysis
– Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
– Proficient with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
– Previous experience using accounting software
– Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data
– Expertise in union payroll
– Comprehensive knowledge of payroll systems for 500 employees
– Strong familiarity with payroll management
– Payroll tax experience
– In-house payroll experience highly desired
– Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
– Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional
– Knowledge of internal controls
– Experienced in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
– 5+ years of relevant experience in payroll
