RVS invites applications for a full-time Learning Specialist (K-12) in the Learning Services Department at the Education Centre in Airdrie commencing August 27, 2024 to June 30, 2028. This position will be under the guidance of the Director of Instructional Leadership.
Please note: This position is also open to those teachers holding a Continuing Contract in RVS.
RVS seeks an individual who possesses strong instructional practices in inclusive instructional design incorporating literacy, numeracy and assessment. The ideal candidate will have recent classroom teaching experience and be comfortable working with staff and students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. They will have demonstrated proven assessment practices aligned with AP 360 and be familiar with the RVS Inclusive Education Practice Guide in order to bring an overall understanding of instructional design. This individual will work with other Learning Specialists to support staff in creating accessible, engaging and authentic learning opportunities for students.
Responsibilities For This Position Include
Working as part of a team to help support leaders and teachers in designing and implementing inclusive literacy, numeracy and assessment practices
Supporting schools with new curriculum implementation
Supporting schools to align with RVS assessment philosophy and procedures as outlined in AP360
Supporting teachers with the implementation of sound assessment practices
Supporting schools with collecting, analyzing and using data to inform practice
Supporting ongoing school level numeracy and literacy implementation
Working with schools and teachers to plan and incorporate elements of instructional design
Planning and leading professional learning sessions for K-12 teachers as required. This may include working extensively in schools through small group professional learning, working elbow to elbow with teachers, co-teaching, modelling, coaching and mentoring
Working as a team to maintain an instructional website for instruction and assessment
The successful candidate must possess, or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate. To be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate you must have applied for initial certification with Alberta Education at www.alberta.ca/teacher-certification .
