The Rogers Information and Cyber Security Unit is seeking a highly motivated Senior Information Security Specialist to join our Threat and Vulnerability Management team. This position provides enterprise level support for threats and vulnerability management, penetration testing, application security and cyber risk management. Reporting to the Senior Manager, TVM, this individual will support the activities to lead, design and provide technical expertise on evolving cyber threats, risk, and vulnerability management. This position requires an overall understanding of the various security testing and cyber security technologies / compliance models and how they inter-relate to deliver business outcomes.
Job Responsibilities:
Act as a subject matter expert and evolve existing code scanning, vulnerability management and threat analysis practices.
Cross-functionally collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide expertise on application and infrastructure security related tools, solutions, policies, standards, and processes.
Provide guidance and technical leadership with respect to secure coding practices and technology hygiene.
Support cross-functional project activities in systems and configuration management, and threat and vulnerability management.
Ascertain project related cyber security risks through the interpretation of requirements documents, architecture diagrams, solution designs and other written and verbal information.
Weigh business needs against security concerns and provide risk-based recommendations to enhance information systems security, which are practical and achievable, thereby allowing the Lines of Business to take corrective actions.
Provide recommendations and identify potential new security solutions.
Expected to take on future team lead/leadership accountabilities.
Experience:
Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Management, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years of information security consulting, advisory or operations experience.
5+ years of technical experience in application security, threat, and vulnerability programs.
Prior experience with the complete cycle of vulnerability management including discovery, assessment, patching and tracking.
Knowledge of SANS, OWASP TOP 10, CWE 25, MITRE frameworks.
Previous experience in the banking, telecommunications and media industry is an asset.
Hands-on experience with tools and solutions related to threat and vulnerability management, application security, penetration testing.
Excellent knowledge of information security standards and frameworks including ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS and/or COBIT.
Technical Skills:
Prior experience and expertise in Application security and code assessment, threat and vulnerability management, leading tools/solutions in this field.
Direct experience with developing security metrics, KRIs and KPIs for leadership.
Prior experience in secure coding and development.
CISSP, CEH, CISA, CISM, CRISC, SANS, OSCP or similar certifications are preferred.
Intermediate to expert level experience with SDLC.
Prior experience with network technologies and sound understanding of Operating systems.
Communicates effectively with meaningful and articulate verbal discussions.
Synthesizes information into succinct, concise, and logical summaries and reports.
Ability to work with teams to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Works well under pressure and time constraints and can prioritize competing priorities appropriately.
Can work independently with minimal supervision and direction.
Demonstrate and apply strong project management, documentation, and communication skills.
On Call and after office hours support may be required in specific incident situations.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Good command on Microsoft Office tools.
