Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Looking for OR Assistant at Barrie, ON Full Time

The OR Assistant will work closely with the OR staff in each Operating Room. Requires understanding of surgical preference cards and co-ordination of room set-up with Perioperative Staff to maintain equipment and resources required for surgical procedures.

Will perform a broad range of duties including but not limited to stock management of surgical supplies, assisting with patient flow, assisting with position of patients under direction of the OR team, set up of all surgical suites with positioning and procedural equipment, and perform additional duties as assigned to contribute to patient safety and flow.

Education:
Grade 12 education essential

Knowledge of medical terminology an asset

CSAO certification or equivalent an asset

OR Assistant course or equivalent an asset

Experience:
Previous experience working in an Operating Room environment is beneficial

Knowledge of Operating Room equipment, devices, and processes an asset

Experience with aseptic technique and cleaning of sterile areas is required

Must be able to function independently and as team member.

Must be able to prioritize and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Ability and experience demonstrated through positive attendance, performance appraisals and work history
