The position is responsible to reconcile various accounts, prepare month-end journal entries, liaise with outsourced providers and assist the Manager, Finance with preparing internal and external reporting, ensuring compliance with Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAB), Statutory Accounting Requirements, and MIS reporting. The position will also provide application support to users of the financial business applications, primarily Meditech Expanse and will work to ensure our financial systems are working effectively, efficiently, and securely producing accurate data and reports. The incumbent may also provide accounting support to the RVH Auxiliary or the RVH Foundation and/or be assigned process improvement projects or internal control functions.

Education:
University degree of an accounting or business field.
CPA designation
Experience:
3 years of working experience at a senior accountant (or equivalent) level
Two years’ experience in a client service role, applying accounting and Ministry guidelines is an asset
Experience in a hospital setting with Meditech software is an asset
Experience maintaining, updating and testing financial systems/software an asset
Competencies:
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of staff and external parties.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel) required.
A working knowledge of GAAP (specifically not-for-profit accounting and PSAB), CRA regulations and guidelines. Knowledge of MOHLTC/LHIN reporting, MIS Guidelines an asset.
Strong analytical, organization and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and function effectively in a busy environment
Responsibilities:
Preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, including year-end working papers
Assist with the preparation of financial reporting and analysis
Analysis and processing of physician payments
Assist with process improvement initiatives and identify and communicate process and/or control weaknesses to the Manager, Finance
Research and provide recommendations to the Manager, Finance on various accounting and tax related matters
Provide support and guidance to other staff when requested
Provide application support to users at RVH and regional partner hospitals. Support is for the financial business applications, including Meditech Expanse Financials (Patient Accounting (Billing & AR), AP, Materials Management, Fixed Assets, and General Ledger).
Maintain the financial systems such as approval hierarchies, chart of accounts, reports, dictionaries, etc.
Liaise with application vendors support personnel as required to resolve issues.
May participate in ad hoc and ongoing committees.
