What’s the job?

As a key member of the operational team, you will be responsible to support our Ottawa, ON and RedCliff, AB manufacturing plants with operational and financial reporting and analyses regarding plant performance and results. This position ensures that Company driven financial policies and procedures are followed and internal controls are in place and adhered to while operating to protect the assets of the Company. You will also work in a proactive manner, consistently providing recommendations on performance and profitability improvements to ensure Company objectives are met. You will also:

• Manage all month-end closing requirements including inventory verification/control, analysis of financial results, account reconciliations, prepare manufacturing variance analysis reports, and work with the Central Shared Service Accounting team to prepare journal entries.
• Actively participate in operational level meetings including plant review meetings providing analysis and reporting to management as required.
• Provide adhoc analysis support and reporting to Group and Country Controllers, Plant Manager(s), and Operational as requested.
• Manage and support annual plant gap review and adapt to Internal Control Manual (ICRF).
• Coordinate and assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget.
• Prepare and maintain product standard costing and year end revision and rollup.
• Oversee and reconcile inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
• Support capital expenditure appropriation request development and payback analysis
• Coordinate and support annual fixed asset desk review, triennial fixed asset audit.
• Continuously identify and manage process improvement initiatives.
• Identify issues and proactively initiate analysis to reduce waste (labor, material usage, spending, etc.).

What do you bring?

Required

• Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting or Finance with a CPA, CMA or equivalent designation.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive cost accounting and analysis experience within a complex manufacturing organization.
• Strong experience in management accounting, cost and inventory accounting, and IFRS.
• Strong analytical and gap analysis skills to quickly grasp issues impacting the plant’s financial results.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to interact with various levels of plant, office and corporate personnel within various departments.
• Ability to clearly define vision, goals and service standards to process team(s) and departments.
• Ability to work autonomously in moving projects forward independently, while keeping stakeholders informed and owning projects end-to-end.

• Strong proficiency in MS Office with an expert emphasis in Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred

• Experience in SAP.
• Experience working in a complex, diverse, matrix style organization.
