Organization Background:
Saint Luke’s Place is a Charitable, Non Profit, Accredited Long Term Care Facility and Seniors’ Community that became a reality as the result of a desire to serve seniors in the Cambridge community.
Position Summary:
The Director of Finance is responsible and accountable to the CEO for the administration, organization, and management of all financial, payroll and information technology services necessary for the effective operation of Saint Luke’s Place
Qualifications:
· Post-Secondary education in Accounting and Administration
· Demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities
· Strong skills with regard to prioritization, collaboration, and negotiation
· Self-discipline, motivation, initiative, and excellent communication skills
· Mature, responsible individual with a genuine regard for the elderly
· Minimum three years’ experience in a long-term care environment and/or other health care or community services environment.
Major Responsibilities:
· The preparation of monthly financial statements for Saint Luke’s Place on a timely basis. This includes the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable systems and their reconciliations. Cash receipts, cash disbursements and journal entries required to produce the General Ledger in accordance with the Administrative Policies and Procedures of Saint Luke’s Place.
· Budgets: responsible for the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets with input assistance from the department heads in accordance with the policies and procedures of Saint Luke’s Place.
· Payroll and Benefits: responsible for the Payroll system of Saint Luke’s Place and the accounting for the Payroll and Benefits in accordance with the policies and procedures of Saint Luke’s Place.
· Year End Reporting: ensures the year-end accounts are properly recorded and assists the Auditor with the annual audit of the books and records of Saint Luke’s Place in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
· Grants/Subsidies/Rebates: responsible for claiming all grants, subsidies and rebates owing to Saint Luke’s Place in accordance with Government Legislation, contracts, or other negotiated agreements.
· Statistics and Government Reporting: ensures all required financial statistics and government reports are filed as required.
· Internal management reporting and analysis as applicable.
· Policies and Procedures: reviews and updates applicable Administrative Policies and Procedures.
· Management Team: functions as part of the Management Team within Saint Luke’s Place.
· Manages and directs the work of all Business Office staff, including: Business Revenue Coordinator, Accounts Payable and Payroll Coordinator.
· Operational oversight responsibilities for payroll and benefits functions performed within the organization.
· Operational oversight responsibilities for the organizational information technology program.
· Finance Committee: reports to the Finance Committee in an advisory capacity. Attends Finance Committee meetings as a guest and reports on the finances of Saint Luke’s Place.
· Committee Meetings: sits on committees as requested or elected to do so to assist in the operation of Saint Luke’s Place.
· Ensures legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are observed and supports Saint Luke’s Place Health and Safety Program. (OHSA Sections 25, 26, 27)
· WSIB: ensures injured workers receive medical attention; supports the ESRTW plan in accordance with WSIA and Saint Luke’s Place Health & Safety Program.
· Other duties: assists the CEO or the Board of Directors in projects or requests when required.
· Internal Controls and Continuous Quality Improvement: in collaboration with the CEO, ensure that a strong system of internal controls and environment of continuous quality improvement exists within all functional areas within the scope and duties of your role.
· Observes and works within the guidelines of the Health & Safety Program, including proper reporting of accidents and participation in ESRTW plans (WSIA).
· Other duties as assigned
