Job Description

The Program Development Educator (PDE) is assigned responsibilities for particular rural facilities and community based services in a specific geographic area. The PDE will work collaboratively with other leaders and educators within the organization to provide education services consistent with overall program direction (long term care, acute care, and community based services such as home care). Under the direction of the Primary Health Care (PHC) Manager, the PDE integrates knowledge and skill reflective of the models of care and principles of adult learning, in the provision of education, research, and quality client centered care for a defined group of clients. The incumbent will provide visible, proactive leadership and promote the delivery of client centered care through identified education programming. In collaboration with the PHC Director and PHC Managers, the PDE is responsible for assessing learning needs of staff, planning, implementing, and evaluating education activities/programs. The PDE will use a consultative approach and research findings to provide support to care staff and managers. Position will have specific responsibilities related to electronic health record systems (e.g. Minimum Data Set (MDS) & Care Management), specialized client needs and clinical knowledge needs within the Primary Health Care service line.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)

Experience

  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years
  • experience related to the clinical area within the past five (5) years.

Additional Information

  • Requires experience in: o program/resource development related to needs assessment, planning, program design, implementation, and evaluation
  • o teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities
