Satellos Bioscience Inc. Looking for Accounts Payable Officer at Markham, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Satellos Bioscience Inc. is a regenerative medicine company located in Markham, ON. The company is committed to developing novel therapeutics for severe muscle disorders through its proprietary discovery platform, MyoReGenX. Satellos’ lead program is focused on developing an oral therapeutic drug for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Satellos believes in identifying regulatory pathways and drug candidates to treat muscle disorders where stem cell polarity is dysregulated.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an Accounts Payable Officer. The Accounts Payable Officer will be responsible for communicating with vendors, reconciling invoices, processing payments, and recording invoices in the Accounting System. The position is mostly remote with occasional visit to Markham office.

Job Duties

• Manage the accounts payable inbox and organize all invoices, statements, and other relevant documentation.
• Coordinate with all departments to ensure all invoices are properly approved.
• Maintain and file documentation, which include invoices, receipts, vendor banking information and other documents as required.
• Record all the vendor invoices in the accounting software.
• Setup Wire and EFT payments on the online banking portal and mark them as paid in accounting software.
• Email all the payment approvers to approve EFT and Wire payments and make sure that it is timely approved by everyone.
• Download all the payment receipts from banking portal and attach them in the accounting software with relevant payments.
• Email payment remittance detail to the vendors.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Support Finance team members with month-end, quarter-end and other ad-hoc projects.
• Support Finance team members during the Review and Audit period.
• Other accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in the field of accounting/finance.
• Minimum 5 years of prior accounts payable or similar accounting services experience.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Superior working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Previous ERP system experience, QuickBooks Online experience is must.
• Knowledge of Accounts Payable best practices, standard concepts, policies and procedures.
• Good organizational, multi-tasking, analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment while being able to work independently.
• Ability to work in a remote or an office environment as assigned.

Type of Role:       Full-time salary employee of Satellos Bioscience Inc.

Hours:                  37.5 hours per week with occasional additional hours; occasional evening and weekend work can be expected during busy periods including during preparation of the Company’s annual and quarterly financial reports.

Location:             Located within the provincial jurisdiction of Ontario; remote work is acceptable so long as the employee can attend at the Markham ON when reasonably required to for job-related duties not expected to exceed one day per week; the Company does not currently have and does not commit to having an office facility available for full-time (five days a week) attendance, therefore emote work will be required for at least a portion of the work week.

Target Start:       Beginning of January 2024; can start in December 2023 if process moves quickly.
