We’re looking for brilliant thinkers to join our #Rocketeers. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work in a place where people enjoy their work and where talent is more important than title, then keep reading.
What is ScalePad?
ScalePad is a market-leading software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform with headquarters in Downtown Vancouver, BC, and a development studio on the Plateau in Montreal, QC. We also have a hybrid-remote team in Ontario and are rapidly growing in all areas.
Our success is no accident: Our award-winning platform empowers IT pros to manage their assets by providing actionable insights to run their business more efficiently. Our customers report impressive efficiency gains – we make their businesses more profitable. That compelling ROI argument is why we’ve organically developed a global following, managing over $15 billion in IT assets across 75+ countries, frequently landing ourselves in the conversations at key industry events.
Most recently, we acquired Backup Radar (www.backupradar.com), a SaaS leader in backup monitoring, reporting, and compliance. This innovative end-to-end automation software solution helps our customers reduce risk of data loss, and optimize backup operations with increased visibility and improved efficiency. In this role, you will be working directly with the Backup Radar Team as part of the ScalePad organization.
You can contribute to building something amazing and appreciate how your work is helping take this company to a higher level of operational maturity. More on that here.
Responsibilities
The Team Lead supervises, monitors, and mentors a group of developers to achieve goals that contribute to the growth of ScalePad. You will manage the team’s backlog in alignment with company vision and help facilitate communication to achieve strategic alignment on the projects in collaboration with other teams and departments. You will inspire and motivate your team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourage collaboration and growth of team members, and provide support in integrating new Rocketeers into ScalePad culture from the interview through onboarding.
Experience
Experience is an asset, but what follows is just as important. You are a good fit if:
You have 5+ years of experience in a software development position.
You’re curious, you love learning, sharing ideas, tackling problems, and staying up-to-date with emerging technology trends.
You can step back and appreciate the value in recognizing a mistake.
You value and facilitate stakeholder communication and knowledge sharing across teams.
You have strong leadership skills and thrive working hands-on, providing mentorship, and coaching to your teams.
You can translate complex problems into user stories and break them down into iterable, vertical slices.
You have strong Agile methodology, SCRUM framework, and project management experience.
You have a strong understanding of software design and patterns, knowing when they should or should not be applied.
You enjoy talking about technical concepts, have great analytical skills, and are comfortable explaining technically complicated topics simply and elegantly, even in challenging situations.
You have a strong grasp of all the key elements that make up a modern web app in today’s ecosystem.
You care. About ideas, solving problems, and about our team’s success.
Within the first few weeks, you will:
Get up to speed on our current initiatives and operational workflow.
Familiarize yourself with our technology architecture – Currently microservices on a modern C# / .NET stack, with TypeScript/React frontend, MariaDB, and even some leftover PHP (which is on the way out)
Achieve a deep understanding of the problems we’re tackling, our business model, and products.
From there you will:
Oversee and implement best practices relating to technical quality of software produced and maintained by your team, from design through development, testing and release.
Refine existing processes as well as establish new process for the development team.
Work with other teams to identify, monitor, and remove impediments and risks.
Motivate, coach, and mentor members of the development team.
Maintain effective/efficient use of the team’s resources and participate in hiring activities to strengthen and expand the team into the future.
Manage the team’s backlog in alignment with company vision.
