Project SEARCH is an exciting and innovative work-focused transition program for high school students labeled with an intellectual disability as well as autistic students. In the Project SEARCH model, students, Teacher and Skills Trainers are fully embedded within a large business/organization and professional work setting. The lead organization, SCE LifeWorks, is an NPO supporting people with developmental disabilities to work and participate in the community, and is the first organization in Canada to replicate this model. SCE LifeWorks is seeking a Project SEARCH Teacher for the Manitoba Hydro and Government of Manitoba Project SEARCH site. The Project SEARCH Teacher will provide employment related instruction, skills training, feedback and related transition support to students enrolled in Project SEARCH. Responsibilities include teaching and adapting job readiness curricula, assisting with student recruitment, coordinating referrals, facilitating/attending meetings, working with business/host site personnel to identify/develop appropriate training rotations, and providing supervision for Skills Trainers supporting students. The Teacher will work as part of a team with Skills Trainers, host site staff and school divisions to implement Project SEARCH at the host site, and will ensure implementation of student transition plans. The Teacher will report to the President & CEO of SCE LifeWorks.

Exceptional verbal/written communicator.
Valid Manitoba teaching certification (special education certification preferred but not required); experience teaching students with developmental disabilities preferred.
Demonstrated flexibility & ability to work as a team player.
Experience supporting high school students with work experiences, as well as transitions into adult life, is strongly preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
The successful candidate will be engaged and curious, a great team player, and will be comfortable with office technology.
