The Burnaby School District is seeking an experienced International Education Manager to join the International Education (IE) Office leadership team. This position holds a key role in the management and delivery of international student recruitment initiatives, programming, and retention services. The International Education Manager is responsible for overseeing marketing and recruitment for select markets and for the delivery of international student support services and programming, including short-term programs. In addition, they would work closely with school staff and external stakeholders to facilitate student success. In conjunction with the Managing Director, International Education, the Manager is involved in strategy development and execution planning as well as tracks and measures key department initiatives and projects.
The International Education Manager will:
Work closely with the IE Managing Director to develop and carry out the IE Office strategic objectives, annual plans, and initiatives;
Manage the effective execution of an annual marketing plan, including monitoring and supporting team members to meet targets, providing quarterly progress reports, and overseeing an assigned marketing budget;
Manage marketing and recruitment for select overseas markets including the management of an extensive agent network;
Provide leadership in the management and delivery of international student support services and programming, including short-term programming;
Work closely with school-based administrators and staff to support student success and manages critical student issues;
Oversee marketing communications to ensure effective and consistent with our brand identity;
Liaise with local and international educational organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies. Represents the District at international education events and fairs both nationally and internationally;
Participate in IE Office student events, including excursions;
Travel extensively to markets identified as target countries; and
Act on behalf of the IE Managing Director when absent.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Master’s degree in a related field and 5 to 7 years’ experience in international education, or a combination of related experience and education;
Experience in international student marketing and recruitment;
Experience in overseeing international student programming and/or services;
Strong conceptional and brainstorming skills, and ability to think strategically;
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience;
Experience in working across cultures and strong cross-cultural communication skills;
Demonstrated superior public relations and interpersonal skills;
Excellent English language, public speaking, and facilitation skills;
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team;
Proficiency with computer applications and relevant technology;
Valid passport, eligibility for various entry visas, and able to travel nationally and internationally; and
A second language is desirable.
This professional exempt position works in an office environment, requiring some travel to various work locations within Burnaby. Regular work hours are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The successful applicant will be offered a competitive salary and benefits package.
