The Human Resources Coordinator reports directly to the HR Manager. The primary responsibilities include:
Responsible for the full cycle recruitment process, which includes preparing and posting position positions, identifying and pre-screening candidates, conducting interviews, working with the hiring manager, and drafting employment agreements;
Conduct new employee orientation as part of onboarding new staff;
Accurately prepare, and present employment offers to candidates and maintain all documentation throughout the hiring and onboarding process;
Organize, maintain, and update employee HRIS information;
Accurately process and administer new hires, promotions, transfers, and employee terminations;
Collect and interpret medical and functional information in supporting employee leaves;
Provide subject matter expertise and guidance regarding short-term and long-term support programs, Disability Management best practices and responsibilities of stakeholders;
Liaise regularly with stakeholders such as Supervisors, Union Executives, third party service providers and other District staff to identify and address barriers to Stay at Work and Return to Work, and to facilitate access to benefits and entitlements.
The successful candidate will have:
Relevant post-secondary program such as a diploma or certificate in Human Resources,
3-5 years’ experience in HR, preferably in a unionized setting.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Return to Work principles and Privacy legislation.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Duty to accommodate principles and jurisprudence.
Working knowledge of HR Information Systems and databases is an asset.
Exemplary and proven interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
Proven critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
Flexible, with a strong orientation for customer service and teamwork, and a self-starter with excellent organizational and planning skills.
