School District #64 (Gulf Islands) Looking for Online Teacher at Salt Spring Island, BC Full Time

School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) invites applications for a 0.2500 FTE Temporary Position for an Online Intermediate/Middle Years, Science and Math Teacher at 64GO on Salt Spring Island, B.C. This position entails teaching in an online learning environment while working with families and the 64GO teaching team to support learners in the Gulf Islands School District. We are looking for an energetic, creative, and enthusiastic teacher for Grades 5-9. This position starts immediately until June 30, 2023.

• Ability to plan, facilitate and evaluate remote learning
• Ability to create exceptional learning experiences in a blended environment in partnership with parents / families
• Extensive experience utilizing a learning management system and educational applications to deliver a wide range of content to deeply engage students in learning
• Effective use of formative and summative assessments and ongoing feedback to support student learning in a remote learning environment
• Extensive experience promoting timely, ongoing, effective communication with learners and families in a remote learning environment
• Knowledge of current best practices in literacy and numeracy instruction
• Successful experience implementing IEPs for students with complex learning needs in a remote learning environment
• Exemplary team-teaching experience in multiage learning environments and working within a team to develop engaging practices that support engagement in a remote learning environment
• Current training and exemplary experience in positive behaviour support systems
• Ability to deliver inter-disciplinary/thematic programs
• Strong background in play-based, project based, and inquiry-based learning
• Exemplary behaviour management and organizational skills
• Experience working in inclusive environments supporting learning for all students
• Recent experience in intermediate/middle years literacy and numeracy
• Proven ability and willingness to enroll, implement and support parents and community as integral contributors to learning
• Exemplary teaching experience planning, facilitating and evaluating learning in a multiage learning environment
• Ability to respond with flexibility, and good humour to a wide range of changes and challenges in a small school setting
