School District No. 81 (Fort Nelson, B.C.) is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional educator for a Full-Time Term contract to teach Grade 5 at RL Angus Elementary School, a Grade 5 – 7 Intermediate school of approximately 160 students.
At RL Angus, we focus attention and effort in the areas of literacy, numeracy, inquiry learning, inclusive practices, and athletics. We have many learning opportunities for students and our school is well equipped with technology with a 1:1 ratio of Chromebook to student. Technology is used both as assistive tools and for inquiry-based learning. We pride ourselves for having energetic, collaborative staff that want to meet student needs in a personalized and flexible way.
Fort Nelson is a community located in Northeast British Columbia, with a population of approximately 3500 residents. It is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream – a community with beautiful rivers, hikes, fishing, camping, as well as the facilities of a larger community, such as a beautiful recreation center with many amenities. Applicants must:
Possess a British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate
Be willing to work in a collaborative/team environment to implement BC’s Education Plan and the Redesigned Curriculum
Be prepared to work positively towards the fulfillment of the school goals
Be familiar with and willing to apply principles of self-regulation
Have knowledge of and commitment to using Universal Design for Learning strategies
Be committed to working as a cooperative, collaborative member of a school team
Be committed to and practice the philosophy of inclusion
Clear Criminal Record Check
Preference will be given to those applicants who :
have experience in differentiating and providing inclusive learning opportunities that reflect the unique needs and interests of all students
have a strong interest in innovation and inquiry
