Team
The Research Group carries out fundamental research to push the limits of what AI can do for enterprises. In turn, those learnings are passed along to the rest of the ATG through our innovation pipeline. In this role, you will be part of the research transfer team within the ServiceNow Advanced Technology Group. This team’s objective is to promote the research breakthroughs from the Research Group by equipping developers and scientists across the organization with new capabilities. In essence, it validates that those state-of-the-art technologies are relevant and scalable to meet the most challenging needs of ServiceNow’s customers.

What you get to do in this role:
Applied research is the process through which we apply fundamental concepts to the real world in all its imperfect and unpredictable glory. In this role, you will be an AI applied research expert who will work mainly in the field of natural language processing. Those span from very large models built on terabytes of proprietary data all the way to models trained in a low-data regime. You will thrive in this role by being able to quickly understand the problem at hand, consider potential solutions, and validate your ideas. As part of the Research Transfer Team, good communication skills are a must to bridge the gap from fundamental research to early production work.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
A MSc with 2 years of experience (preferably in industry) or a PhD in a relevant field.
Familiarity with PyTorch, Tensorflow or equivalent tools used for running computations on GPUs.
Familiarity with doing a literature research and implementing (sometimes from scratch) the best solution found.
Experience in the development of AI prototypes and the ability to quickly validate whether a certain avenue is worth pursuing.
Proficiency in producing prototype-level source code that balances correctness with efficiency.
Experience using CUDA, nvprof, and other low-level tools to optimize the usage of compute resources is an asset.
Experience in training large models that requires the use of dozens of GPUs across multiple nodes an asset.
A proven track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment;
A “getting things done” mindset.
Pour réussir dans ce rôle, vous avez :
Une maitrise avec deux ans d’expérience pratique (préférablement en entreprise) or un doctorat dans un domaine pertinent.

Une familiarité à faire une revue de la littérature ainsi que l’implémentation (parfois à partir de zéro) de la meilleure solution que vous avez trouvée.
Une expérience avec le développement de prototype d’IA ainsi que l’habileté de rapidement vérifier s’il vaut la peine d’investir dans une certaine technologie.
Habileté à écrire du code source de prototype, c’est-à-dire qui balance le besoin d’être correct avec le besoin d’être produit rapidement.
Une familiarité avec l’entrainement de gros modèles d’apprentissage profond qui requiert l’usage de douzaines de cartes graphiques à travers plusieurs noeuds de calcul un atout.
De l’expérience avec l’utilisation de CUDA, nvprof et d’autres outils de bas niveau permettant d’optimiser l’usage des ressources de calculs est un atout.
Un parcours démontrant votre capacité à composer avec l’ambigüité, prioriser les besoins et produire des résultats dans un environnement dynamique.
Une attitude qui priorise les résultats plutôt que les méthodes.
