Position: Controller
Location: Montreal
Our client, a successful consumer good distributor, is looking to hire a Controller to help them manage the accounting department. As a Controller, you will be responsible for the financial management, the administration of accounting systems, preparation of reports, and maintenance of accounting records. The Controller is a proactive individual who is the main support to the VP finance and corporate accounting team.
Responsibilities:
– Lead the day-to-day accounting & financial statement for 3 companies
– Analyze and advise on revenue, expenses, and balance sheet
– Develop, document, and enforce business processes and accounting policies
– Management of budgeting and cash flow forecasting
– Manage and oversee Accounts Payable and Receivables
– Manage the special Accounts volume rebates
– Maintain General Ledger and reconciliation of all accounts
– Manage and oversee inventory
– Maintain and monitor tax compliance
– Manage and prepare payroll
– Coordinate activities for external Accountants as it relates to year-end
– Provide monthly financials to the shareholders
– Creating, modeling, and updating financial projections
– Develop budgets that meet the requirements of company departments
– Establish targets and manage all accounting and finance employees, including Management Accountants and Internal Auditors
– Supervise all audit and internal control processes
– Prepare detailed reports on the company’s financial performance
– Guarantee compliance with financial laws and guidelines
– Recognize patterns in company spending and revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas
– Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of the company
– Monitor the performance of investments, including creating reports using business software
– Analyze trends to reduce financial risks associated with making investments or spending decisions
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
– A minimum of 5 years” experience in financial management
– In-depth knowledge of accounting software, corporate principals, and financial analysis
– Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
– An analytical mind with good organizational skills
– Outstanding leadership skills
– Ability to lead departments and individuals
– Strong creative skills to develop new and innovative solutions
– Ability to create and deliver unbiased budget expectations for different departments
– CPA an asset but not a must
