Compensation: $48,403 – $60,504 per year

Please note: This is a full time temporary position – 6.5 months

We’re looking for a Junior Accountant to join the Accounting team!

Reporting to the Team Lead Accounting, you are primarily accountable for reconciling and posting entries while supporting the Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting teams. As a Junior Accountant I and an integral member of the accounting team, you are a problem solver with strong communication and time-management skills, ensuring variances are identified and deadlines are met.

More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Basic investigative skills to complete work including identification of variances, ability to research items within the various computer systems and resolve accounting problems
• Ensures accounting deadlines and cutoff schedules are met
• Strong attention to detail while ensuring timely and high-quality work is produced
• Microsoft office skills, including: Intermediate Computer Skills, including but not limited understanding of PC, moving files, copying, internet usage etc
• Understand and remain current on corporate policies
• Deliver high quality service and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external groups
• Act as a resource to branch and department employees and assist them as required
• Understand and manage change effectively with a focus on achieving both department and corporate goals and objectives

Requirements

To qualify, you will need at least the following:

• 0 – 3 years of progressive accounting experience depending on the level of education completed
• Enrolled in Business Administration/Accounting Diploma/Certificate OR relevant Accounting/Finance courses
• Basic-Intermediate understanding of accounting
• Ability to understand journal entries and basic reconciliations
• Document process and procedures

Although not required, the following are valuable assets:

• Knowledge of SAGE 500
• Previous banking experience using Captivation and Credit Union or Financial Institution knowledge/ experience
