Role Description:
Responsible for running experiments, testing hypotheses and forming conclusions. Develop experiments, run them scientifically, produce results and communicate the results to the executive development teams. Run key investigations/experiments around yarn quality, yarn improvement, machine retrofitting, fiber dyeing, retexturizing yarn, stretch tests of raw materials, etc. Develop a long-term process for vetting suppliers to ensure they are hitting Sheertex’s standards. Support Sheertex’s plans to advance our product and manufacturing efforts, including as we grow and build new departments and factories
Job Duties:
– Conduct research into the structure and properties of our materials – polymers in order to obtain information to develop proprietary Sheertex products
– Determine ways to strengthen materials, develop new materials for use in a variety of commercially viable products and applications
– Devise testing methods and procedures to evaluate materials
– Plan experiments to confirm processes and techniques
– Prepare reports of findings
– Test material samples for tolerance
– Determine how materials can be tailored to suit company requirements
– Monitor production processes to ensure equipment is used effectively and projects are completed in a timely manner
Skills & Competencies:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, Chemical engineering, Polymer chemistry, Chemistry, other
– At least 1 year to less than 2 years of experience is required
– Critical Thinking; designing experiments and interpreting results
– Experimental Skills; identifying appropriate experimental protocols, designing and executing protocols, troubleshooting, lab safety and data management
– Collaboration Skills
– Communication
– Broad conceptual understanding of Chemistry
– Deep knowledge of a specific field: Material Science
