Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Environment, the Advisor, Environment will collaborate a range of stakeholders to execute the Environmental business plan.
This is a full time permanent position based out of our Fort Saskatchewan site.
Accountabilities
Develop and monitor standards and procedures that ensure compliance with all current Environment regulatory reporting and licensing requirements
Analyze and provide trend information (including both Sherritt and external trends) for input into the annual Environment business plan
Maintain and execute an Environment management system, including standards, procedures, inspections, audits and training that is consistent with Sherritt’s objectives to deliver zero harm to the environment
Identify, recommend action plans and manage enterprise risks related to environmental aspects
Identify, study and recommend improvement opportunities related to energy and water use, biodiversity, waste reduction and air, water and soil emission
Provide environmental services such as project management, waste characterization, air management, incident notifications and approval amendments, major project and approval renewal applications
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor level degree or college diploma with minimum 5 years of related experience
Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and practices (Lean, 6S, process optimization, etc.) would be an asset
Experience in energy, minerals or chemical production industry would be an asset
Understanding of regulatory development process and basics of environmental law/regulation
