SinaLite Looking for Garment Machine Operator at Markham, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Job Summary: The Garment Operator is responsible for producing complete specialized print projects in compliance with job specifications and in accordance with company quality standards and procedures. Coordinates workload schedule to meet customer time frame requirements while achieving optimum productivity. Performs daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on equipment to ensure optimum output. Works closely with other team members to exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

General and Administrative

• Coordinate with the Production Team, Large Format and Apparel Supervisor, Team Lead to produce and prioritize jobs and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates
• Comply with all OHSA safety requirements and Company’s health and safety policies
• Participate as a key player in the Production Team by supporting operations as needed
• Communicate effectively with the Large Format and Apparel Supervisor, other members of the Production Team informing and updating them regularly to meet customer’s requirements
• Follow systems and procedures outlined in the Corporate Policy Manual

Machine Operations

• Perform machine operating and packing functions as noted on work order/job tickets
• Operate equipment/ machine to produce orders
• Manage inventory levels (for all apparel material including inks, supplies, stock etc)
• Process handwork assembly according to specifications
• Clean and disinfect workstation
• Retrieve the correct work order and load the apparel into the machine according to specifications
• Coordinate with all departments including shipping to maintain the production workflow and meet job deadlines
• Coordinate daily with shipping for Alpha border pickups and manage t shirt inventory.
• Input the appropriate configuration based on job specifications and requirements
• Pour appropriate ink into the cartridge.
• Visually inspect the job for imperfections and adjust accordingly
• Package jobs, complete work orders, tickets, and delivery receipts as necessary and placed in their assigned areas
• Record and maintain work/job information onto an activity sheet for tracking purposes
• Perform quality controls on the assigned machine/ equipment
• Troubleshoot breakdowns, conduct minor repairs, and perform routine maintenance
• Operate assigned equipment/machine in accordance with operating procedures
• Control and adjust machine settings when required
• Maintain knowledge of safety equipment
• Responsible for cleaning and machine setup of assigned equipment/machine
• Troubleshoot any issues that may arise and/or report to the Supervisor/Team Lead
• Notify the Supervisor and/or Team Lead of any quantity or quality issues
• Ensure that the area and the machine is kept in a clean, safe and orderly manner
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Equipment and Supplies

• Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance logs
• Monitor and manage inventory of tshirt supplies; order and stock as instructed by the supervisor.
• Inform supervisor of machine/equipment problems

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience
• High school diploma/GED with experience or vocational/technical certification
• Previous tshirt print and/or machine knowledge/experience is an asset
• Previous experience in operating machinery is an asset
• Proficient knowledge of applicable garment applications
• Strong interpersonal skills e.g. working well with others, communication, positive attitude
• Basic computer skills
• Good written, verbal and mathematical skills
• Good attention to detail and hand eye coordination
• Able to work independently and as a member of the team
• Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and attention to workstation
• Meet or exceed minimum test results as specified by the hiring manager
