Caribbean restaurant in North York seeks friendly, high-energy multi-taskers who enjoy the restaurant environment, interacting with customers and preparing and working with food. Take-out restaurant and cashier experience preferred.
HOURS
Must have full availability to work day and/or evening shifts Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 9/9:30 pm.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
· assemble and bag orders; ensure all orders are complete and accurate
· have online delivery orders prepared, bagged and ready by the pick-up time
· prepare menu items on a wood fired grill
. prepare and cook some items from scratch
· memorize menu items, ingredients and portion sizes to ensure consistency and accuracy
· ensure there is sufficient quantity of menu items at all times; replenish items that are getting low
· maintain cleanliness and health and safety standards, including wiping down counters and appliances, cleaning/sweeping floor, etc.
· perform other related tasks as required or assigned
As required:
· greet customers
· operate Point of Sale system: accurately enter orders and process cash and card payments
· memorize menu and help customers with order options; upsell; promote new menu items
· take phone orders
· process online delivery orders
· maintain front of house cleanliness and health and safety standards, including public areas
· perform other related tasks as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· punctual, reliable, trustworthy
· positive attitude, outgoing, comfortable dealing with the public
· excellent English
· energetic, able to work under time pressures without becoming overwhelmed
· attention to detail; good organizational skills
· able to take direction and initiative and perform tasks quickly and accurately
· able to work well independently and with others
· able to problem solve when needed
· physically fit; no problems standing or walking for extended periods; able to, lift, move and carry items up to 50 lbs., including up and down a flight of stairs
· open to learning and taking on new responsibilities
ASSETS
· familiarity with or ability to cook Caribbean/Trinidadian foods
· live fire grilling experience
· current food handler’s certification
Hourly wage dependent on ability and initiative.
